TEMPE, Ariz. (February 5, 2024) – Sundt Craft Training Manager Josue Ponce was recently chosen to represent Sundt for the National Center for Construction Education and Research Workforce (NCCER) Development Committee.
The NCCER Workforce Development Committee serves as an advisory group to the NCCER Board of Trustees for workforce development issues. The committee will present recommendations to the NCCER Board of Trustees for discussion and approval.
Ponce will serve as an advisor to the committee and NCCER Board of Trustees for workforce development issues and will advocate for issues that directly affect the construction industry.
The committee reviews and discusses areas of concern and brings forth innovative ideas to ensure every craft professional using an NCCER program has an equitable opportunity to learn and demonstrate skill, knowledge, and competency in their chosen craft(s), and to receive credentials appropriate to their performance.
Ponce began his career journey as a pipefitter apprentice and journeyman/welder. In his 27 years in the industry, he’s held diverse roles, such as general foreman, superintendent, quality manager and craft instructor. He holds degrees in welding science and strategic leadership, is a certified welding inspector and a national plumbing/mechanical inspector.
Sundt’s workforce development efforts include comprehensive training for craft and administrative personnel at the recently completed As an NCCER accredited training sponsor and assessment center, Sundt offers three Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship programs in carpentry, pipefitting and heavy equipment operation. The organization provides a variety of training programs for both its administrative and craft employee-owners, ensuring opportunities for professional development and career growth.
